How to write a strong awards submission
Judges can only assess what is in front of them. Make it easy to understand what you did, why it mattered and what evidence supports it.
Start with the criteria
Read the judging criteria and weighting before you write. Focus the strongest evidence on the areas carrying the most weight.
Answer the question directly
Lead with the answer. Do not make the judge search through company history or background that does not address the question.
Use evidence, not adjectives
Replace claims such as ‘exceptional growth’ or ‘outstanding results’ with figures, percentages, dates, comparisons and specific outcomes.
Show impact, not just activity
Explain what changed because of the work: revenue, productivity, retention, listings, market share, service, compliance, time saved, client outcomes or another relevant result.
Be clear about your contribution
For individual awards, distinguish what the nominee personally led or delivered from the wider team or organisation result.
Make it easy to judge
Use a simple flow: situation, action, result, evidence. Stay within the word limit, use plain language and proofread before submitting.
Supporting evidence that helps
Evidence should support the claims in your written answers, not replace them.
- performance reports or dashboards
- transaction, CRM or property-management data
- before-and-after results
- client, member or stakeholder feedback
- audit, compliance or governance records
- case studies, third-party reports or other independent proof
Label files clearly so a judge can immediately understand what each document supports.

- My key claims include measurable evidence.
- My supporting documents directly relate to the answers.
- I explained the nominee's or organisation's actual contribution.
- I reviewed the judging criteria and weightings.
- A judge with no prior knowledge could understand the entry.

Been nominated, or want to nominate someone?
Nominations are an alternative way in. A nominee receives a secure invitation, registers and accepts it to open an entry in that category.
How we keep judging fair
Your submission is king. The entry you write, and the evidence you attach, is what is judged.
- It is free to nominate and submit an entry. Awards night attendance requires a ticket; no membership is required. Purchase awards night tickets.
- You can start an entry yourself, or be nominated by someone else. Both routes lead to the same submission and are judged identically.
- Judging is AI-assisted so the published criteria are applied consistently to every submission, with awards administrators reviewing results before anything is finalised.
- AI-assisted writing is neither rewarded nor penalised. What matters is substance, demonstrated results, specificity, evidence and verifiability.
- Material claims may be checked against submitted evidence and independent sources where available.
- Commercial relationships, partnerships, advertising, membership and ticket purchases have no influence on scores or finalist and winner selection. Tickets are only for attending the event and are not required to become a finalist.
